Upon receiving the task to design a vertical high school, a typology so pivotal as it shapes our transition into adulthood, our group turned to something so prevalent in adolescence - Play.
We were immediately enthralled by the concept of play as it pertains to well-being. Playfulness in architecture brings about more active and dynamic spaces that encourage more creative uses and brings joy to its
users.

We believe that cultivating a playful mindset characterised by impartiality, genuine curiosity and open-mindedness has the inherent ability to improve the quality of the spaces we design.
Community First
Fostering an on-site community is a central driver of our concept. We believe that just as a school is at the heart of a community, the community should be at the heart of the school.
The school encourages this symbiotic relationship by ‘blurring the lines between the school and the park, luring the community in to take advantage of the cutting-edge facilities. Specialty hubs are located on the lowest two levels, making up the publicly accessible interface.
The community also has direct access to the rooftop recreation hall via direct lift access on the ground floor.

From massing to circulation, playful strategies are employed throughout the building. Our mission is to uplift the traditional school environment with a fresh and playful approach to create an environment that inspires students promotes well-being and fosters social connection.
